Frequently
asked questions
What sort of club is KIDSGROVE WHEELERS
Kidsgrove Wheelers is a club that welcomes the every day cyclist and
the racer. If you have raced in the past, are beginning to race, or
thinking about racing. We race in road, time trial and are hoping to
introduce more categories, as the club grows stronger.
Where
are you based?
Most
of our members live in or around Staffordshire. The website forum is
the place where members share information and make arrangements for
rides, races and social events. We also meet up at local fire station, which is now our club room
each month.
Where
do you ride?
For social, club or training rides we go mainly towards the Cheshire
lanes for road users. When the winter draws in we have a racing section
and a Family club section. We are involved in races and events all over
Staffordshire and further a field.
What
standard should I be to join?
You should be comfortable riding at least (30 miles) or spend three
hours in the saddle for the Family section. For the racing section there
is no comfortable, we usually do 60-70+ miles on a Sunday morning averaging
around 17mph. You should also race or be keen to try out racing or take
part in competitive events. If you are new to cycling the racing section
is not for you. However the family section might be a more suitable
option.
Who
organises rides?
The club rides are currently organised by different members.
For the club rides to be successful it's really down to all the members
to throw in ideas of where they might want to meet up and cycle, and to let everyone know well in advanced.
Can
I come on a social ride with you before committing to joining?
Provided you meet the criteria described above, you are welcome to come
and join
us for a social ride. We have the Sunday club runs
out and about as usual.
