The History of The Kidsgrove Wheelers Cycling Club
The Kidsgrove Wheelers Cycling Club started out in the 1930's. We have Time-Trial records set by the riders from 1932 through to 1935. Recently we have been donated a trophy by Brian Tomlinson (Sam),
this trophy was won by his Father, 'Hewitt Tomlinson in 1939. This proves that Kidsgrove Wheelers was running for much longer than we had first anticipated. The trophy has been polished up and is awarded annually to any member of the Kidsgrove Wheelers over the age of sixty and is open to both full and associate members. The trophy has been named the 'coffin dodgers Trophy' and is the only origional Trophy from the 1930's Kidsgrove Wheelers Cycling Club.
This photo is of a Kidsgrove Wheelers club run in the 30's outside an unknown pub. Sam Tomlinsons dad is the cyclist in a white jacket to the left of the photo.
