Below is an explanation of why you may want to join a British Cycling Club (Kidsgrove Wheelers)

Why join us ?
Kidsgrove-Wheelers BadgeThe Kidsgrove-Wheelers are a friendly cycling club based in Kidsgrove, Staffordshire . Our club caters for the family and the individual cyclist's that wishes to Time-Trial, road race or simply enjoy a leisurely bicycle ride around the local country lanes. If you are having trouble getting back onto your bike we have professionally trained Nationally accreditted Bikeability Instuctors and Provisionally trained British Cycling Level 2 Coaches within the Club that will train you to gain the confidence that it takes to ride your bicycle safely and enjoyably. Most Sunday's throughout the cycling year a Club Run is organised. On these rides we attract both members that are competative and non-competative. Sunday is our day for a social ride where all members can meet, cycle and chat, we also meet on a Monday and Thursday mornings. Winter months, we tend to average between 30 and 40 miles (dependent on the weather forecast). Throughout the summer months we try to get in a few more miles as the weather is usually better. However as the cycling club is increasing in size and less experienced riders are joining us, there is always a group of cyclist's that are more than happy to slow the pace and lesson the miles to accomadate and make new members feel welcome and a part of the club. After all, its all about the smiles, and not the miles. We have a meeting once a month at the Kidsgrove Fire station, this allows the members to have an insite into forth coming events and social gatherings. As a Great British cycling Club we have loads of interesting things happening throughout the year wether it be a social ride or a barn dance maybe even a disco.

Roy Deakin riding TTWhere do you ride?
For social, club or training rides we go mainly towards the Cheshire lanes for road users. When the winter draws in we have a racing section and a Family club section. We are involved in races and events all over Staffordshire and further a field. See club run page club runs

What standard should I be to join?Sunday Club Run
You should be comfortable riding at least (30 miles) or spend three hours in the saddle for the Family section. For the racing section there is no comfortable, we usually do 60-70+ miles on a Sunday morning averaging around 17mph. You should also race or be keen to try out racing or take part in competitive events. If you are new to cycling the racing section is not for you. However the family section might be a more suitable option.

Who organises rides?
The club rides are currently organised by just a few of our members. For the club rides to be successful it's really down to all the members to throw in ideas of where they might want to meet up and cycle.

Can I come on a social ride with you before committing to joining?
Provided you meet the criteria described above, you are welcome to come and join us for a social ride. Coming up this year we have the organised and dedicated Sunday club runs out and about as usual, also we have a Monday Club run nice steady social ride that meets at RedBull Traffic lights and Astbury village by the Astbury garage, look for the wooden bench, thats usually where we meet.
